Israeli Ambassador to Russia Says It Will Continue To Celebrate Victory Day

Speaking to TASS, Israeli Ambassador to Russia Simone Galperin said that Israel will never stop celebrating May 9 as Victory Day in the victory over Nazism. May 9 is an official holiday in Israel. Galperin explained that two of her grandfathers fought in the Red Army during World War II. In all, there were about 500,000 Jews who fought in the Red Army, and 200,000 were killed: 120,000 died in battle, and 80,000 were taken prisoner, but since they were Jews, they were exterminated.
