Israeli War Cabinet Minister and former Army Gen. Benny Gantz has threatened to pull out of Netanyahu’s governing coalition if the Prime Minister does not rapidly change course in the Gaza conflict. Gantz’s criticism appears to reflect concerns of the “day after” in Gaza.

Speaking in a public address on May 18, Saturday night, Gantz said: “Lately, something has gone wrong. Essential decisions were not made. Essential leadership decisions to ensure victory were not done. A small minority has taken over the command bridge of the Israeli ship of state and is steering her toward the rocks.... If you choose to lead the nation to the abyss, we will withdraw from the government, turn to the people, and form a government that can bring about a real victory.”

Gantz listed six demands that he said must shape a new strategy, including: return the hostages, destroy Hamas and demilitarize Gaza, create a multi-nation coalition to govern Gaza, return Israeli residents to the North, and normalization with Saudi Arabia.
