The just-announced Russian drill on the use of tactical nuclear strikes should be taken by the US, the UK, France and other Western nations as a reminder of where escalation of the Ukraine conflict could take them, former President Dmitry Medvedev said, as reported by RT. Medvedev currently serves as the deputy head of the Russian Security Council. He cited as grounds for Russia’s new drill, Western debates of the deployment of NATO troops into Ukraine and the “active encouragement [of Kiev] to use [Western] missile weapons against the entire Russian territory.” He wrote on his Telegram channel that Russia “will have to respond” to such a NATO deployment of soldiers and, of some note: “And, alas, not on the territory of former Ukraine.” Rather, Western leaders “won’t be able to hide on Capitol Hill, in the Elysee Palace or at 10 Downing Street... A global catastrophe will ensue.”
