Appealing to the members of the BRICS countries, Pakdee Tanapura, the leading Thai sponsor of the concept of a Kra Canal linking the Pacific and the Atlantic Oceans, and long-time friend of the LaRouche movement, notified EIR today that he has created a new organization called “O To O,” meaning “Ocean to Ocean,” to revive the Kra Canal effort.
The current Thai government has given up on the Kra Canal, and is promoting instead a land-bridge approach for transshipment of goods across the Kra Peninsula in southern Thailand. Tanapura says that has little support, especially from potential international investors either in Asia or in the West.
