St. Louis Alderwoman’s Resolution Condemns Washington University’s Violent Response to Protesters

St. Louis Alderwoman Alisha Sonnier introduced a resolution today condemning Washington University in St. Louis for the school’s violent response on April 27 to the peaceful student protest for a ceasefire in Gaza. The resolution includes that Alderwoman Sonnier personally knows that the protest was peaceful, because she was a participant in it. The resolution reads, “The First Amendment protects every citizen’s right to protest peacefully and to express their views via free speech. And the actions by Washington University do not reflect the democratic values St. Louis City holds dear.”
