As is his practice, whenever he makes a state visit, Chinese President Xi Jinping published an article in his hosts’ major media, in his visit to Serbia, in the daily Politika, as his two-day state visit to that country began May 7. In it, Xi repeatedly talks about the “ironclad friendship” between the two countries, lays out the bright future of cooperation, and makes sure to remind his readers that this is the 25th anniversary of NATO’s 1999 bombing of the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade, which Xi stated, “we will never allow such tragic history to repeat itself.” Excerpts follow:
