Zakharova Takes on EU Hypocrisy of Insisting on ‘Freedom of Protest’ in Georgia

At a time when U.S. and European demonstrations protesting governments backing Israel’s war against Gaza are being repressed, Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called out the hypocrisy the European Union’s diktat to George to ensure “freedom of protest.”

“The European Union has called on the Georgian authorities to ensure the people’s right to protest. The European Union should show consistency and call, say, on the authorities in the U.S., Armenia and Moldova to ensure their people’s right to protest. Otherwise, this can be interpreted as interference in the county’s domestic affairs aimed at changing the government,” Zakharova wrote on her Telegram account on May 17, reported TASS.
