Biden Not Going to Swiss-Hosted Ukraine ‘Peace’ Summit

White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby announced yesterday that Kamala Harris and Jake Sullivan will be traveling to Lucerne, Switzerland, to attend Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s fake peace conference on June 15-16. “At that conference, they will underscore the Biden-Harris administration’s commitment to supporting Ukraine’s effort to secure a just and lasting peace based on Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and the principles of the UN Charter,” Kirby said.

The fact that President Biden isn’t going is widely seen as a “snub.” Nonetheless, Kirby promoted Biden as doing more “for peace” than anyone else in the world. “In fact, this whole peace formulation that President Zelenskyy formulated over a year ago and has been trying to operationalize, he’s been able to do that, able to have these conversations, able to bring other countries to the table, because the United States has been so supportive of this peace formula that he has come up with,” he said.

At the same time, Kirby bragged about how deeply involved the U.S. is in the war. “There is no way that you can look at what Ukraine has been able to do over the last two-plus years and not see the hand of the United States there every single step of the way,” he said.
