India Will Not Send High-level Delegation to Ukraine ‘Peace Conference’

The Hindustan Times has released an article claiming that no senior leadership will be in attendance at the June 15-16 peace conference in Switzerland. This means Prime Minister Modi and External Affairs Minister Jaishankar, according to the anonymous officials. In their place, it is reported, only senior security officials and political advisors will make the trip.

Of course, Ukraine and their Western sponsors have been in a desperate scramble to get a large turnout. Hindustan Times reports that the Swiss Foreign Secretary even traveled to India last month to pressure India to participate, apparently with a pitch aimed at India and other BRICS members as a potential “go between” with Russia. But the officials say that India’s main concern with the event is that Western countries will create a so-called plan to end the war, but leave out Russia.
