At least 8 people were killed June 23 by an Israeli air attack near an aid center that is the main headquarters of the UN Relief and Works for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the Gaza Strip.
The strike hit the main gate of the organization’s compound in Gaza City in the north of the enclave, injuring many Palestinian civilians also. The facility is used to distribute the little humanitarian aid that is provided.
Hundreds of people were sheltering inside UNRWA’s facility, having been displaced by the Israeli military’s ground invasion of Gaza.
The Israeli government of Benjamin Netanyahu, and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), have carried out destruction of UNRWA facilities in particular, since Oct. 7, because the agency provides sustenance to Gaza, as well as refugees in the West Bank, Lebanon, Jordan and Syria, among others..
On June 22, at least 42 people were killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza City’s Al-Tuffah neighborhood and the Al-Shati refugee camp, Reuters reported, citing the director of the government media office. This included an Israeli strike on houses in the Al-Shati refugee camp, murdering 25 people.
At the same time, some 47,000 Palestinians have been killed or are missing now in Gaza. Updated statistics published by Gaza’s Health Ministry reveal that at least 47,000 Palestinians have been killed, or are missing and presumed dead since October. The latest reports communicate that Israel has committed over 3,000 massacres in Gaza during the war, which has been the deadliest for UN workers and journalists in history. Roughly three-quarters of the dead and missing are women, children and the elderly.
