Norway and Finland have become the latest NATO member countries to give Ukraine the green light to strike Russia territory. During an interview with Norwegian broadcaster NRK on May 30, Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide said: “We also believe that Ukraine has an absolutely clear international right to attack Russia on its territory as part of its defense of its own territory…. This is absolutely normal in war, and we cannot force Ukraine to fight with one hand behind its back.”

Three days earlier, on May 27, Finland’s President Alexander Stubb told a press conference that “it is not our job to tie Ukrainians’ hands.… In a situation where one party is certainly not following the rules of war, it is not our job to restrict Ukraine’s behavior in any way,” reported Yle news.
