Posted on Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico’s Facebook page is his message to Europeans everywhere that these EU Parliament elections are crucial because “It is necessary to vote for MEPs [members of the European Parliament] who will support peace initiatives and not the continuation of the war.” He also charged that “The consent of Western countries given to Ukraine to use Western weapons to attack targets on Russian territory is only proof that the great Western democracies do not want peace,” and he asserted “escalation of tensions with the Russian Federation … will surely happen,” after casting his vote.
He concluded, “As Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, I will not drag Slovakia into similar military adventures, and within the scope of our limited Slovak possibilities, I will do everything possible to ensure that peace takes priority over war.”
