Bloomberg Reveals, DNC Plans To Nominate Biden before Convention, To Undercut Opposition

Bloomberg reported yesterday, that the Democratic National Committee is planning to formally nominate President Joe Biden a month before the Democratic National Convention, as a way to pre-empt an expected, growing movement to replace Biden. These rabid defenders of democracy evidently find that undemocratic methods may be best to defend democracy.

Bloomberg wrote that the DNC is set to hold several committee meetings between July 16-21 to finalize the rules and procedures for a nomination, done by a virtual vote. Two Democratic sources told Fox News that July 21 was the target date for the nomination. The plan is, as Bloomberg put it, to allow the party to “stamp out intra-party chatter of replacing him” and to “further coalesce around their nominee even as insiders call for him to step aside for a new candidate after his rocky June 27 debate performance.”

Some of the “intra-party chatter” was stirred up by the word coming out of the Biden camp that those raising concerns over Biden’s competence and electability were “bedwetters.” Sen. Peter Welch (D-VT) told Semafor website today: “I really do criticize the campaign for a dismissive attitude towards people who are raising questions for discussion.” He said that Democratic Party leaders had a greater responsibility for attaining victory in the November election. Separately, CNN reported that various Democratic officials objected to the comments from the Biden campaign as “disrespectful” and “disgusting.”
