Bolivian Situation Unsettled Amidst Financial and Geopolitical Warfare

The situation in Bolivia remains unsettled following the June 26 attempted coup against President Luis Arce, amidst charges from some unsavory quarters that what happened that day was really a “self-coup” orchestrated by Arce in collusion with commanders of the army, navy, and air force, supposedly to boost his popularity. This narrative has been picked up by Bolivia’s Project Democracy-run opposition, by former President Evo Morales (although with some nuances), and hinted at by the U.S. State Department.

Internal investigations are ongoing meanwhile, with 22 military figures jailed and 30 under investigation. In his statement to prosecutors, Gen. Juan José Zúñiga, the former Army commander-in-chief who led the revolt, provided details as to forces involved and claimed that he had the support of the U.S. and EU embassies. Keep in mind, however, this news service had made previous warning that these events have very little to do with internal politics, but rather to destabilizing efforts by Anglo-American banking interests and by Global NATO, which are out to destroy the BRICS—Bolivia has applied to be a member—and particularly its South American leader, Brazil.
