The Chinese electric car maker BYD will invest $1 billion in Türkiye to build a plant to manufacture electric and hybrid vehicles. The plant should start operations in 2026 and employ 5,000. On July 6 Türkiye announced plans to introduce a 40% custom duty on Chinese internal combustion and hybrid vehicles, according to its leading Anadolu news agency.
