Chinese Expert Expects ‘New Breakthroughs’ in India-Russia Cooperation

TASS on July 10 cited Wang Wen, Executive Dean of the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China assessing that the July 8-9 Putin-Modi summit and its results show “the failure of the West’s attempt to persuade India to go against Russia.” Those attempts were still continuing from the U.S. State Department even as the two leaders’ meeting was occurring, with demands that India “pressurize” Russia to abandon Ukraine. But “India, as an independent country, will not become the West’s vassal,” Wang Wen told TASS.

He also maintained that Modi’s visit reflects Russia’s advantages in the Ukraine conflict. “India, for what it’s worth, does not believe Russia can lose the Ukrainian conflict,” Wang said.
