Georgia’s outspoken Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told a press briefing today that there is a “common pattern that characterizes the same global political forces” behind the recent assassination attempts in Slovakia and the U.S., and an alleged plot to assassinate Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder of the ruling Georgia Dream party. He said that the plot in Georgia was orchestrated by the same forces that tried to kill Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico on May 15 and former U.S. President Donald Trump on July 13.
Georgia’s State Security Service is presently investigating the alleged assassination plot at home. According to RT, the planned hit on Ivanishvili was said to be “organized and financed by former high-ranking officials of the Georgian government and former employees of the security agencies who are in Ukraine.” The Security Service has been questioning some militant Georgians who have been returning home after fighting in Ukraine.
