The Russian-language channel of China’s CGTN network asked various experts on the deliberations of the Communist Party of China plenary session, and especially on the policy of external openness. Among the experts was prominent Russian economist, Eurasian Economic Commission Minister for Integration and Macroeconomics Sergey Glazyev, whom they quoted as saying: “China will increasingly expand its technological chains, develop cooperation with many countries of the world, including America, maintain close cooperation with Africa, with our Eurasian Economic Union [EAEU]. We work here the idea of connecting the Eurasian Economic Union and ‘One Belt, One Road,’ that is, the Chinese locomotive of economic growth pulls through joint technological chains, creating added value for the economy and many other countries that are increasingly interacting more closely with China and China actually generates demand today in international markets, large volume and a wide range of products. We see how more and more countries are being drawn into the orbit of the Chinese ‘One Belt, One Road’ [aka Belt and Road Initiative] and each of them is finding their own cooperation opportunities and investment projects for cooperation with China. And this will continue.”
