June’s issue of The New Republic featured its cover with former President Donald Trump as Adolf Hitler, with the title: “American Fascism: What It Would Look Like.” The June 7 The New Republic tweet included a paragraph: “Today, we at The New Republic think we can spend this election year in one of two ways. We can spend it debating whether Trump meets the nine or 17 points that define fascism. Or we can spend it saying, ‘He’s damn close enough, and we’d better fight.’ We unreservedly choose the latter course.”
That is a rather open admission from one much-watched “legacy media” source that facts can be put aside for the sake of targeting Trump. After the July 13 assassination attempt on former President Trump, Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) made the simple point: “The central premise of the Biden campaign is that President Donald Trump is an authoritarian fascist who must be stopped at all costs. That rhetoric led directly to President Trump’s attempted assassination.”
However, such targeting has been standard operating procedure for the Atlanticists’ running “color revolutions” and/or violent coups in targeted countries. Of particular note, Slovakia’s investigation of the May 15 assassination attempt against Prime Minister Robert Fico finds a “lone assassin” (Juraj Cintula), all pumped by Slovakian opposition media, secretly financed by the Atlanticists, to stop Fico at all costs.
What does The New Republic editor Michael Tomasky dare to say on June 14 about their targeting Trump? “As I write these words, we don’t know what motivated 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks to try to assassinate Trump. As I write these words, we don’t know what motivated 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks to try to assassinate Trump. … But whatever his motivation turns out to be, his act is not isolated... I’d write that we’re about to enter a very dark period, but in fact we entered it long ago, and there’s no end in sight."
One doesn’t have to claim that Crooks was reading the June issue of The New Republic. TNR was just one particularly clear example of the targeting that eggs on desperate individuals. And while his act indeed was not isolated, there’s no need to follow Tomasky into that very dark period.
The “authoritarianism” of a George Washington, an Abraham Lincoln, or an FDR—or, for that matter, China’s Xi Jinping—is exactly what is needed to crush the financial bubble behind the drive for permanent war. And that is exactly what drives the desperate hypocrisy of Tomasky and those whom he serves.
