Just days after a car bombing in Moscow, the suspected perpetrator has been located and arrested in Türkiye and extradited to Russia to stand trial. This shows the cooperative relationship between security services in Russia and Türkiye.
The July 24 bombing targeted Andrey Torgashov, a participant in Russia’s military operation in Ukraine. The attack shows that foreign intelligence agencies are able to locate and target individuals within Russia. Reports are that the suspect, Yevgeny Serebryakov, was recruited by Ukraine using Telegram. His flight to Türkiye was made easier by the visa-free travel between the two nations.
The suspect’s quick apprehension shows Ankara’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorist activities on its soil.
