On the eve of a major visit to the U.S. by Chinese business leaders, the FBI, Homeland Security, and the IRS, on the morning of July 26, raided the Fuyao Glass America company in Moraine, Ohio. The Fuyao works are a major Chinese investment in the U.S. A movie, “American Factory,” demonstrated the benefit Fuyao had brought to the local community.
The investigators told the workers that the company was not under investigation, but that they were investigating contractors whom they alleged were providing illegal labor to companies in the area. According to Homeland Security, the focus was on money laundering, potential human smuggling, labor exploitation and financial crimes.
