EU Council President Orbán Banned from Speaking at EU Opening Ceremony

Normally, the rotating EU Council President makes the opening address to the plenary session of the EU Parliament. This year Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán proposed to address the parliament with the slogan “Make Europe Great Again.” In their characteristically undemocratic fashion, the heads of the political caucuses, known as Conference of Presidents, who determine the agenda announced that there was no room in the schedule for Orbán.
