In both Moscow and Beijing, the NATO Summit statement was condemned as a declaration of attempted domination. “We see that our opponents in Europe and in the United States are not in favor of a dialogue,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, reported TASS. “Judging by the documents signed at the NATO summit, they are not supporters of peace,” he said, adding that “the North Atlantic Alliance is an instrument for confrontation and not a tool for security provision.”

“Regrettably, the only agenda that the alliance has, is based on its claims for global domination,” Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told journalists on the sidelines of the 10th BRICS Parliamentary Forum in St. Petersburg. “Sadly, those stuck in the past that pull the strings in NATO and develop some documents that surface later, triggering a reaction, are incapable of looking to the future.”
