Russia-China Launch ‘Joint Sea 24’ Exercise

Yesterday, the maritime part of Joint Sea 24 commenced when the Russian and Chinese naval task forces departed the Chinese port of Zhanjiang following an opening ceremony, reported the Russian Defense Ministry. Russian participation includes the corvettes Gromkiy and Rezkiy, while the Chinese PLA Navy ships include the destroyer Yinchuan, the frigates Dali and Hengshui, as well as the universal supply vehicle Weishanhu. During the maneuvers at sea, which run through July 17, “the crews of the Pacific Fleet and the PLA Navy will conduct joint air defense exercises, anti-submarine exercises with the involvement of the naval anti-submarine aviation of the PLA, and train to replenish the stocks on the go. Sailors from the two countries will also take part in a rescue training exercise at the sea.”
