Hungary and Rosatom signed an agreement to reaffirm Rosatom’s construction of a nuclear power plant during a meeting between Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev and Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto.

Russia will construct two new power units of the Paks-2 nuclear power plant despite the current international political situation, TASS yesterday reported Rosatom as stating. The two new generation 3+ VVER-1200 reactors will be built alongside the Soviet-era PAKS NPP, which currently operates four VVER-440 pressurized water reactors at an estimated cost of €12.5 billion, 80% of which will be funded by a Russian loan. The plant’s capacity will increase from the current 2,000 MW to 4,400 MW.
