Al Jazeera reported on July 25 that the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) finds that the official ‘safe’ zones in Gaza have shrunk down to only 17%. A full 83% has been officially marked as unsafe—that is, a “no-go zone” or an area where evacuation orders exist. This means that in 117 of Gaza’s 141 square miles, the population may be shot and killed, and 24 square miles remain for 2.3 million people to temporarily occupy, with next to no infrastructure, and exposed to only ‘accidental’ shootings and bombings.
