Senior Austrian Peace Activist Reveals von der Leyen Is for War

Former leader of the Austrian Greens, top candidate of its list and prominent peace activist Madeleine Petrovic has loudly denounced Ursula von der Leyen’s policies. On July 16, she accused the EU Commission President of acting against the principles of the EU treaties, which are committed to peace and freedom. Particularly serious is the allegation that von der Leyen intends to remain in her position despite suspicions of corruption in connection with Pfizer Pharmaceutical deals, and she makes no effort to stand up for peace in Ukraine.

Petrovic emphasizes that the EU should unanimously advocate peace and not boycott the meetings called by Hungary Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in his function as rotating president of Council of the EU: “The fact that it is Viktor Orbán who is currently the only one actively campaigning for peace is shameful enough for the EU—because the entire EU should stand united for peace, if it still takes its treaties seriously.”
