Trump and Biden Call for Shift in Tone of the Presidential Campaign, Trump Rewrites Convention Speech

There has been a great deal of anger among Trump supporters regarding the assassination attempt against their presidential candidate, fully understandable given the atmosphere created by the slanderous attacks, the attempts to send him to prison, and the extraordinary measures taken against him to prevent him from running for President.

On the evening of the assassination, President Biden made a couple of statements, the last from the Oval Office, calling on the country to bring down the temperature after the horrendous attack. He also said that he would “call Donald” to speak to him after the attack, which he did. The Democratic Party also took down their campaign ads as well. The call between the two Presidents was short, but there seemed to be agreement with regard to bringing down the vitriol.
