Ukraine’s Intelligence Director Says Multiple Assassination Attempts Made Against Putin

There have been several attempts to assassinate Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to Ukrainian intelligence chief (GUR) Kyrylo Budanov. He made the comments to New Voice website, which were published on July 13, hours before the Pennsylvania assassination attempt on Trump. “But as you can see, they were unsuccessful,” Budanov conceded. The general did not say what his claim was based on. He also did not say whether his or other Ukrainian intelligence services might have been involved in the plans.

Little is known about attempted attacks on Putin during his lengthy time in power, the report concludes. An assassination attempt by men from the Caucasus failed in May 2022, Budanov said, shortly after Putin ordered the February launch of the special military operation. There is no evidence of this.
