Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a press conference yesterday after his return to Kyiv from the NATO summit in Washington, D.C., during which he demanded 25 Patriot batteries and more F-16s, reported AP. Last week, he got promises of four more Patriot batteries. As for the F-16s, he said that the first batch would come this summer with the second batch arriving late in the year.
He also said that Russia should attend a second international gathering to discuss peace. AP noted that Russia was not represented at the first conference in Switzerland in June—though neglecting to mention that they were not invited. Moscow, however, was left with confusion over Zelenskyy’s comment: “The first peace summit was not a peace summit at all. So one must understand first what he has in mind,” responded Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov to Zvezda TV this morning, reported TASS.
