Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko charged yesterday that Ukraine violated Belarusian airspace with drones, several of which were shot down by Belarusian air defenses. Several more drones were shot down by Russian air defenses after they entered Russian airspace. “I do not understand why Ukraine needs this. We need to figure it out. As I said before, we made it clear to them that any provocations will not go unanswered,” he said, reported BelTA. “The unpleasant thing is that the Ukrainians, as I have warned you many times, show by such steps that they are not ready for any peace and continue to escalate the tensions,” Lukashenko added.

In response to the drone incursion, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry summoned Kiev’s interim Chargé d’Affaires Olga Timush, and warned her that such actions by Ukraine could lead to further escalation in the region and demanded that Kiev take “comprehensive measures to rule out such incidents in the future,” reported RT.
