Hamas issued a statement yesterday, following Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s meetings in Israel and President Joe Biden’s speech to the Democratic National Convention, denouncing them for giving the green light to Israeli genocide in Gaza. “We in the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) followed with great astonishment and disapproval the statements issued by U.S. President Joe Biden, in which he claimed that the movement is backing away from the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, hours after his Secretary of State Blinken called on the movement to accept the latest proposal,” the statement said.
Hamas called Biden and Blinken’s statements “misleading claims” that “do not reflect the true position of the movement, which is keen to reach a cessation of aggression.” Their statements “come within the framework of the complete American bias towards the Zionist occupation and the full partnership in the aggression and war of genocide against defenseless civilians in the Gaza Strip, and attempts to liquidate our national cause.”
Furthermore, “We consider these statements a renewed American greenlight for the government of Zionist extremists to commit more crimes against defenseless civilians in pursuit of the goals of exterminating and displacing our people.” And, finally, “What was recently presented to the movement constitutes a reversal against what the parties reached on July 2, based on Biden’s declaration on May 3, and Security Council Resolution 2735 on June 11, which is considered an American response and acquiescence to the terrorist Netanyahu’s new conditions and his criminal plans towards the Gaza Strip.”
