Kamala Harris on CNN—a Platitude in Every Pot

Even the hollow promise by Herbert Hoover one year before the 1929 Great Depression of a “chicken in every pot,” sounds like a concrete proposal compared to the empty platitudes offered on August 29 by Kamala Harris in her CNN interview. Harris has been criticized by much of the media for avoiding any serious interviews with the press, but the lack of any follow up questions in this CNN interview meant that Harris could say anything without any challenges. There were a lot of empty phrases, but not much of an interview.

The first question posed to Harris was to name one distinct step that she’d take on the first day of her presidency. Using a lot of words and phrases, such as hope, optimism, aspirations, goals, ambitions, new way forward, her message was circled around how she would somehow “strengthen the middle class” and that there “are a number of things on day one.” Yet, according to CNN, she could offer no explanation why grocery prices had gone up so high, nor why in three and a half years she had not effected any of the items in her economic plan.
