Lukashenko Tells Papal Nuncio, ‘Europe Needs a New Peace Treaty’

On August 23, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko met with the Apostolic Nuncio Ante Jozic. He said that the views of Belarus and those of the Vatican practically coincided, in particular, with regard to the security of Europe. “The positions are absolutely in tune,” Lukashenko said. “I absolutely agree with you, and we have been talking about this a long time: In order for Europe to live peacefully and live the way we live, we need a new peace treaty, we need a new world, if I may say so, in Europe,” he said.
