While much of the corporate media are presenting the Democratic National Convention this week as a “love fest” for the unelected Kamala Harris, outside the convention on the streets of Chicago, one might reach the opposite conclusion. Thousands of protesters from March on the DNC 2024 gathered yesterday at noon at Union Park in Chicago to voice their outrage over the genocide in Gaza. Speakers at the three-hour rally referred to Vice President Harris as “Killer Kamala” and questioned her moral standing. One protester created a puppet of Harris who is presented as a vampire joined at the hip to “Genocide Joe” Biden.
Attending the rally was a Chicago teacher Stuart Abram, who is quoted by the Wall Street Journal as speaking of the Democratic Party’s failure in Gaza, but also the suffering in the U.S. caused by deregulation and the “erosion of the social safety net.” Abram said, “Talk is cheap. You better show us something, otherwise you will wonder again why all the ‘deplorables’ did not understand the wisdom of giving you power.” Chicago resident Nick Sous was also quoted as saying that on the presidential ballot in November he will write in “Gaza.” He said, “The Democratic Party has blood on its hands. They have funded a genocide. I can’t support them.”
