Scott Ritter, during an August 25 interview with Dima Alkhorshid on his “Dialogue Works” program, assessed that the defeat of Ukraine will come on a timetable that Russia controls, and that Russia is prevailing on the battlefield. In Kursk the Ukrainian offensive is being defeated, Ritter said, because the strategic reserve they committed to Kursk is being hunted down and destroyed. The Russians did not divert substantial forces from the Donbass front to respond to Kursk. Russia is on the cusp of a major victory in Donbass and Zaporozhye as Ukrainian forces are on the point of collapse. “We are looking at a strategic Russian victory,” Ritter said. “We’re looking at a Ukraine that has run out of options because they basically threw their strategic reserves into this gambit in Kursk that has failed....”
