Saxony Prime Minister Argues for Diplomacy, Instead of Weapons for Ukraine!

Saxony’s outgoing Minister President Michael Kretschmer (Christian Democrat), who may be reelected after the September elections, in any case, told the newspaper chain Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland (RND) that German funding could and should no longer be spent on weapons for Ukraine, which would only be used up and achieve nothing. The war in Ukraine shouldn’t be ended on the battlefield, but at the negotiation table, he argued. Rejection of talks and calls for weapons, as with Green Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, is totally ill placed, Kretschmer said, adding that Germany should, instead, find allies such as in China and India for a peace initiative that would also seat Russia at the negotiation table.
