Within months of taking office as Governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz created a “Climate Crisis Advisory Board” which would soon reveal plans to reduce greenhouse gasses in the state by half by 2030. Tim Walz brags that in 2023 alone, he signed into law 40 separate environmental bills, according to WCCO-TV. One of the 2023 bills that Walz signed into law required the state of Minnesota to adopt one of the most accelerated timetables in the nation for a 100% carbon free power grid by the year 2040. To meet that timetable Walz has reduced regulations and oversight on the permitting process for energy projects. Walz has funded a total of $2 billion to protect natural habitat, wildlife, pollinators, and other natural resources. He spent $2.7 million for clean energy career training. In 2022 he spent $200 million on clean water projects. The champion of the “Green New Deal,” Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, has welcomed Walz to the Democratic ticket, while Trump has referred to him as a “West Coast wannabe.”
