Triennial China-Africa Forum Will Meet in Beijing in Two Weeks

The Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), the overarching conference between China and Africa, will hold its triennial meeting in Beijing from Tuesday, Sept. 3 to Sunday, Sept. 8. All African countries are members of FOCAC, with the exception of the Kingdom of Eswatini (formerly Swaziland), which continues to recognize Taiwan.

For the occasion, South African sinologist Dr. Paul Tembe and co-author Jeffrey Sehume released Aug. 16 in Pretoria their new book, Xi Jinping and the Flourishing Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in the New Era. South Africa’s IOL reported Aug. 17, “The book explores the extensive China-Africa relations which have resulted in China constructing and upgrading more than 10,000 km of railways, nearly 100,000 km of highways and over 60,000 km of submarine cables, as well as nearly 1,000 bridges, 100 ports and over 100 health facilities and schools.”
