The Wall Street Journal's front page “exclusive” story on August 15 is the latest chapter in a massive disinformation campaign. The headline is, “A Drunken Evening, a Rented Yacht: The Real Story of the Nord Stream Pipeline Sabotage” with the kicker: “Private businessmen funded the shoestring operation, which was overseen by a top general: President Zelenskyy approved the plan, then tried unsuccessfully to call it off.”

The Journal claims to have interviewed the main figures involved so they imply that no further investigation is necessary. The Journal wished it were able to produce hard “proof” but all agreements were done verbally so as not to leave a paper trail. The Journal article centers around the discredited story of the rented yacht. (The Washington Post and many investigators and other outlets have pointed out the many flaws of this story of the yacht.)

The Journal is not interested in the truth and this story may be part of an effort to sink Ukraine President Zelenskyy. Investigators for EIR have insisted that any competent investigation start with then-Under Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, on Jan. 27, 2022, and President Joe Biden, on Feb. 7, who had told reporters, respectively, that “one way or another Nord Stream 2 will not move forward” and “If Russia invades the border of Ukraine … there will no longer be a Nord Stream 2. We will bring an end to it.” Investigative reporter Seymour Hersh started his Substack report demonstrating that the entire operation was run by the U.S. from start to finish.
