Wang Yi Phone Calls to Egypt and Jordan’s Foreign Ministers on Gaza Genocide

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi held phone conversations with Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and with Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, on Tuesday Aug. 6. Global Times reported that Wang Yi was urging countries to form a joint force to help achieve a ceasefire in Gaza, adding that the complexity of the situation requires joint efforts from all parties to address the current crisis, especially the U.S. and Israel, to avoid escalation.

Wang also told them that “China resolutely opposes and strongly condemns the assassination of [Ismail] Haniyeh,” the leader of Hamas who was in Iran when he was assassinated.
