Will U.K.’s Starmer Improve Relations with China or Talk Cooperation While Increasing Pressure?

The British press is reporting that the new Foreign Secretary David Lammy may visit China. Chinese sources report that they have seen a “renewed focus by the Labour government on China-U.K. relations,” according to Global Times, while they “expressed hope that the Starmer administration would steer the bruised ties back on track.”

Bloomberg reported that the possible Lammy visit is part of the new Labour government’s efforts to “recalibrate the U.K.’s relationship with Beijing.”
