Belarus-1 TV channel reported how a group of conspirators planned to eliminate Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko by shooting down his helicopter, which the official BelTA news agency learned from a trailer of the movie “Murderous Conspiracy. Target: Lukashenko” that the TV channel Belarus One will air on Sept. 19. One of the conspirators, Yuri Zenkovich, was interviewed on the program saying that shooting the head of state’s helicopter was planned from a large-caliber machine gun either during takeoff or landing. The conspirators were convicted of attempting to seize power in Belarus.
On Sept. 17, Lukashenko announced that some countries desire to “exclude him from the political agenda.” Lithuania, together with other Western countries, said that it would initiate consideration of the “Belarusian issue” in the International Criminal Court in The Hague. The hope of the opposition, which is largely based abroad, is to create a pre-rebellious situation in the country before the 2025 presidential elections.
