Burkina Faso Will Seek To Join the BRICS, as Prime Minister To Visit Moscow

Burkina Faso will apply for membership with the BRICS, announced Prime Minister Apollinaire Joachimson Kyelem de Tambela after meeting with Russian Ambassador to Ouagadougou Igor Martynov on Sept. 23.

“He [the prime minister] also raised his voice for Burkina Faso’s entry into BRICS ... in order to ‘counter the dominance of the dollar and the euro’ and to achieve ‘a fairer international trade,’” said the Burkina Faso government said on social media, according to Sputnik

It was also announced that Moscow would host a bilateral forum on economic and trade promotion over Oct. 8-11. The prime minister will travel to Moscow to attend the event where he will meet with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and possibly President Vladimir Putin.
