Charges Filed Against Attempted Trump Assassin Ryan Routh

The firearm charges filed against Ryan Routh, who attempted to assassinate Donald Trump yesterday, reveal that he had been in the area for 12 hours at the time he was spotted. At the time of his arrest, his identity was confirmed by a witness who saw him at the scene.

The following details are recounted in the charging document.

At approximately 1:31 p.m., a Secret Service agent saw a rifle poking out through the trees surrounding the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, and fired in the direction of the rifle. A witness saw Routh flee the scene in a car. Routh was stopped and taken into custody. Recovered at the scene were a digital camera, two bags, including a backpack, a loaded rifle with scope, and a bag of food. The serial number on the rifle had been obliterated.
