Second Wave of Exploding Communication Devices Hits Lebanon

A second wave of exploding devices hit Lebanon today; this time it was two-way radios reportedly intended for use by Hezbollah. The hand-held radios detonated late on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 18, across the country’s south and in the southern suburbs of the capital Beirut, a security source and a witness told Reuters. At least one of the blasts took place near a funeral organized by Hezbollah for those killed the previous day, when thousands of pagers used by the group exploded across the country. Lebanon’s Health Ministry said 14 people were killed and 450 wounded in today’s explosions. This adds to the 12 dead and 2,800 wounded from the wave of exploding pagers yesterday.
