European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen presented the new EU Commission, the executive and legislative body of the totalitarian European Union, on Sept. 17. To accommodate everybody, the new Commission has 6 (six!) executive vice-presidents. However, only a few of them have real power. They include:
Stéphane Séjourné (France), in charge of Prosperity (sic) and Industrial Strategy. Séjourné replaced Thierry Breton, who resigned in a polemic with von der Leyen. Séjourné's main merit is that he has been the husband of former Prime Minister and Macron close friend Gabriel Attal, who had appointed him Foreign Minister.
Kaja Kallas (Estonia), a known warmonger, she is the new High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. She wants to carve up Russia in small entities.
Teresa Ribera Rodriguez (Spain), a lawyer and former Spanish minister, is in charge of Clean, Just and Competitive Transition. She shut down coal mines in Spain.
Italy got an executive vice-president with Raffaele Fitto, but with a minor portfolio, Cohesion and Reform. Rome wanted a “heavy” portfolio such as Economy, which went to the hawkish Valdis Dombrovskis.
