Former President Donald Trump has repeatedly warned that the Biden administration course in Ukraine flirts with a nuclear confrontation with Russia. Yesterday, speaking at a campaign rally in Savannah, Georgia, he insisted that the U.S. had to change course. He told the crowd:
“Biden and Kamala got us into this war in Ukraine, and now they can’t get us out. They can’t get us out. I think that we’re stuck in that war unless I’m President. I’ll get it done. I’ll negotiate; I’ll get us out. We’ve got to get out. Biden says, ‘We will not leave until we win.’” After having lowered his voice for his “Biden” comment, he resumed his regular tone: “What happens if the Russians win? That’s what they do—they fight wars. As someone told me the other day, they beat Hitler; they beat Napoleon. That’s what they do. They fight. And it’s not pleasant.”
Otherwise, ABC News reported that an official on Trump’s campaign clarified that, despite a statement last week from Ukrainian officials that President Zelenskyy planned to meet with Trump during his visit to the U.S., there will be no such meeting.
