Trump’s Vice-Presidential candidate J.D. Vance was interviewed Sept. 11 on an alternative show called the Shawn Ryan Show, where he commented on Trump’s much-talked-about Ukraine Peace Plan. While Vance provides more details than have before been revealed, the plan sounds little different than statements Trump himself has already made, and is unlikely to be received very well by Russia.
Vance said everyone wants this war to end, Ukraine, Russia, and the Europeans. “What it [the peace plan] probably looks like is something like the current line of demarcation between Russia and Ukraine, that becomes a demilitarized zone; its’ heavily fortified so that Russians doesn’t invade again; Ukraine remains its independent sovereignty; Russia gets the guarantee of neutrality from Ukraine—it doesn’t join NATO, it doesn’t join some of these allied institutions. And I think that’s ultimately what this looks like. And by the way, the Germans and other countries have to fund some Ukrainian reconstruction.”
