Campaigning yesterday at an event in Cottbus for the Brandenburg state parliament election—which will be held on Sept. 22—BSW party leader Sahra Wagenknecht warned against the planned stationing of US medium-range missiles in Germany. The plan is “insanely dangerous,” so of course “no other European country is prepared to station such missiles on its territory. And we are the stupid idiots who are doing this because Mr. Scholz wants us to. No, we don’t want that!” she said. Wagenknecht added that these missiles would make it possible to launch attacks “deep into Russian territory, into Moscow, into the Kremlin or even on the nuclear forces... without warning time,” implying that “the moment Russia assumes—and this could even be mistaken—that these missiles will be used, it will press the red button.”
